Daily life on the frontier

Strip away the emperors and the legions and a different Wall appears: one of porridge and parasites, children's shoes and birthday parties, gods carried from Syria and the Rhine, and people sold, freed and grieved for at the edge of the world. Most of them left no monument. This is what the evidence lets us say about them.
